I believe families should be fully educated about all aspects of pregnancy and childbirth in order to make informed decisions regarding their personal care. I passionately believe that everyone has the right to be supported fully while they labor and birth in their chosen manner.
My journey into birth started when my first child was born in 1999. I wanted a natural birth, and thought that I did everything that I needed to do to have one, but I was entirely unprepared for the reality of hospital birth. With my second birth, I switched to a different OBGYN and hired a doula. My third birth was delivered at the hospital by a midwife. By the time that I delivered my fourth baby at home in 2006, I was very active in supporting breastfeeding women through La Leche League (LLL). I served as a Leader with LLL from 2008-2011. In 2012, I completed doula training with DONA and had my fifth child at home with CHOICE. I delivered with CHOICE again in 2015 when I had my sixth baby. In March of 2016, I completed training as a toLabor doula.
I strive to use my experiences, training, and knowledge to help families navigate their parenting journey.
